A new name. The same road.
If you've booked with us before, you'll know us as Peter Pan Camper Van.
We've been trading under that name for a few years now, and before us, someone else did too. We came to it after a conversation with the people who'd built it, fell for what it was, and decided it was worth carrying forward. Three brothers from Belfast, which probably tells you something about how we make decisions.
Peter Pan was a good name for what it was. The lightness of it felt right with that sense of timeless adventure, the idea that you could just go. A few days on the road with no fixed plan, back before anyone noticed you'd gone. That spirit is still here. It's the reason we got into this.
But we've been sitting with a feeling for a while that the name had taken us as far as it could. Charming as it was, we wanted something with a bit more to it. Perhaps less novelty, more invitation.
So we've been working, quietly, on what comes next.
Rún is an Irish word. It means secret, or mystery, or something carried privately, known only to you. The translation shifts depending on context, which is part of why we liked it. It felt like the right word for the kind of travel we've always cared about. The hidden beach. The road that turns out to be worth taking. The place you stop at for no particular reason and don't leave for hours.
That's the Ireland we want people to find. Slower. The better parts of it. At a pace where you actually notice where you are.
The roads are the same roads. The approach hasn't changed; unhurried, curious, no fixed agenda. We just finally feel like the name fits what we're actually doing.
We love this part of the world and we're looking forward to sharing our favourite bits of it with the people who come and drive with us.
To everyone who's driven with us under the Peter Pan name, thank you. Genuinely. You trusted us with your time off, which is not a small thing, and a lot of what we've learned about doing this well came from you. We're carrying that forward.
