Rún Campers - FAQs

  • The Defender is £195 a night, with 120 miles a day built into that. Book seven nights or more and the rate drops by 10%.

    We ask for a two-night minimum on advance bookings. Single nights come up occasionally as last-minute fills — ask and we'll see what's free.

  • A 25% deposit secures your dates. The balance is due 8 weeks before collection. Booking closer in than that? We take full payment upfront.

    We take bank transfer or card. No cash.

  • More than 8 weeks out, cancel and we'll refund your deposit in full within 14 days.

    Inside 8 weeks, the hire fee is forfeited. Date changes work the same way: more than 8 weeks out, ask and we'll see what's possible. Inside 8 weeks, we can't move things around.

  • It's £1,000, held on your card before handover rather than taken upfront. Assuming the van comes back the way it left, that hold is released.

    Driver's insurance and roadside breakdown cover are both built into the hire, so there's nothing extra to arrange.

  • Every named driver needs to be 23–75, have held a full licence for at least two years, carry no more than six penalty points, and have no more than one fault claim in the past five years.

    Under 23 isn't an automatic no. We can put in a referral on your behalf, though it comes with a higher excess and deposit.

  • Collection is 3pm at the Stormont Hotel, Belfast. Return is 11am. Set aside half an hour for the handover. We'll walk you through the van properly before you head off.

    Coming by air? Belfast City Airport is a short taxi ride away. The Glider G1 also runs out of the city centre.

  • 120 miles a day comes included, counted by calendar day: handover day and return day both count. Past that, it's £1 a mile. Need more? Extra mileage packages are available, just ask when you book.

  • A cooler (Yeti Roadie 15), Anker Solix C1000. The heating holds up well through the colder months, so a winter trip is an option, not just a summer thing. A convertible bed.

  • Not with the Defender, sorry, it isn't set up for pets. That may change as the fleet grows.

  • There's a fair bit on offer:

    • Bedding bundle: £35

    • Cooking bundle (cutlery, cooking knives, plates, bowls, pot, pan, gas stove, kettle): £35

    • Gas stove only (with kettle, coffee and teabags): £10

    • The Pitch Set (camping chairs and a portable table): £25

    • Extra mileage packages: ask when you book

    • Extra driver: £10 a day

    • Late return: £50
